A simple air fryer recipe of tender chicken thighs in a delicious Orange Dijon Sauce with garlic that the whole family will love.
I love my air fryer so much, that I actually have 3 different types - an old actifry with a paddle, a single basket air fryer and then recently I purchase a dual basket air fryer which is the perfect size for families. You can cook large amounts of one item or two different recipes on at once on different settings.
One of my favourite things to cook in the air fryer is chicken. Just add some seasoning, make a simple marinade - for example this delicious Orange Dijon sauce and in less than 20 minutes you can have a delicious meal on the table for the whole family.

Ingredients for Air Fryer Orange Dijon Chicken
For the recipe you need the following ingredients:
- Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs
- honey
- fresh orange juice
- Dijon mustard
- salt and pepper
- green onions
- 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
- olive oil spray
See the recipe card for full quantities.
Once all the ingredients are prepared, you can get ready to make this easy recipe in the Air Fryer.
Best Type of Air Fryer
You really don't need a special kind of air fryer for this Orange Dijon Chicken- the only criteria really is that it is a big enough capacity to fit all the ingredients in a single layer, especially if cooking something like chicken. Some things can be layered on top of each other, and then a little shake of the food half way through cooking time is sufficient.
I do recommend if you are a family of 4 going for at least a 4 quart or 4 litre capacity at the minimum.
Doubling up the recipe
If you would like this recipe to serve 4, just double up all the ingredients and cook for the same amount of time. All chicken pieces will need to fit in your air fryer in a single layer so you will need either a large capacity air fryer or a dual tray one.
Oven Conversion
Don't have an air fryer but will love to give this recipe a try? I have this handy post on Air Fryer Conversion - How to Convert a recipe to your Air Fryer which can also be used to convert an air fryer recipe to the oven.
For this recipe I recommend baking at fan 200c, 220c or 425f (gas mark 7) for about 20 minutes until golden brown on the edges and cooked through, brush with the sauce at the halfway mark.
Can I use Chicken Breast?
I don't recommend chicken breast for this recipe with the method of cooking and the marinade/sauce you won't get quite the same result of the char on the edges and tender chicken.
How to make a thicker sauce?
I don't like the sauce super thick on this recipe, it's such a yummy sauce that it's perfect for us just as - so that it can be spooned over your chicken and rice.
However if you want to make the sauce thicker, add in a about a teaspoon of cornstarch to the marinade ingredients (2 teaspoons if doubling up the recipe). This should be enough to thicken the sauce slightly.
Sides for Orange Dijon Chicken
This will pair well with a variety of different sides. I opted for some cooked rice and sauteed king oyster mushrooms which I cooked in olive oil spray with some garlic until golden and seasoned with salt and black pepper.
The chicken would also be great served with these Garlic and Herb Roasted potatoes which can also be cooked in the air fryer and any green vegetables like green beans, broccoli, tenderstem broccoli etc.

Can I make the sauce and use it for already cooked chicken thighs - I have them in the freezer and I'm not in the mood for chicken and ham salad.
